Buddhist Pine (Podocarpus)

Buddhist Pine (Podocarpus)

The Buddhist Pine (Podocarpus), aged between 30-40 years, offers a unique addition to your bonsai collection.

Placement

Place your Buddha’s Pine bonsai in a bright location with plenty of indirect sunlight. A spot near a window with filtered light is ideal. It can tolerate some direct morning sun, but avoid harsh midday sun, which may scorch the needles. If kept outdoors, choose a sheltered area protected from strong winds and extreme heat. This bonsai prefers stable conditions and does not like frequent changes in location.

Watering

Water thoroughly when the top layer of soil begins to feel slightly dry. Ensure water flows out of the drainage holes, then allow excess water to drain completely. Do not let the roots sit in standing water. Buddha’s Pine prefers evenly moist soil, but it is more tolerant of slight dryness than overwatering.

Pruning and Maintenance

Regular pruning helps maintain the bonsai’s shape and encourages dense growth. Trim new shoots once they extend beyond the desired silhouette. Remove yellowing or weak needles to keep the plant healthy and refined.

Available for in-store pickup or delivery by appointment within half an hour's drive from Den Haag/Leiden/Amsterdam.
